Location

The conference will be held in Kyoto University, Yoshida Campus, which is about 35 min. by bus from JR (Japan Railways) Kyoto Station.
Nearly all conference events will be held in the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall. The hall can be found straight in front from the main gate of the Main Campus of Yoshida Campus. The access maps of the campus can be found here.

From Airports to Kyoto Station

There are two airports in Osaka area; Kansai International Airport (KIX) and Osaka International Airport (ITM). From these airports to JR Kyoto Station, public transportation is available.

  • Here is the timetable of the limousine bus to Kyoto Sta. A car in a day also directly connects between KIX and Demachiyanagi, which is the nearest train station to the conference venue (15-20min. walk). The fare is 2,500JPY for one way, and 3,800JPY for a round-trip (available for two weeks). It takes 95-105min. from KIX to Kyoto Sta.
  • Kansai Airport Limited Express, Haruka, also connects between KIX and Kyoto Sta. (depicted in the figure below). It runs every half hour; the first train starts at 6:34 and the last train starts at 22:16. One-way fare: 2,980JPY(Non-reserved seat), 3,490JPY(Reserved seat), 4,200JPY(Green car; roomy, luxurious seat ) It takes 73-75min. from KIX to Kyoto Sta.

If you are to use Osaka International Airport, you are likely to have arrived via Narita International Airport (NRT). Osaka International Airport has South and North bus terminals. The limousine buses to Kyoto Sta. start from the bus stop 55 in the South terminal and the bus stop 5 in the North terminal.

Another choice not detailed in the figure is the airport Centrair (NGO), located within the vicinity of Nagoya. From Centrair to JR Nagoya Station is 23 min. (500JPY) by airport bus. Other options for airport access can be found here. From Nagoya Sta. to Kyoto Sta. is 36-46 min. (5,440-5,640JPY) by Shinkansen (Japanese Bullet Train); "Nozomi", "Kodama" or "Hikari".

Bus Routes to Get to Kyoto University, Yoshida Campus

  • Nearest bus stop is "Kyodai Seimon-mae" (Kyoto U. Main Gate), which can be reached by Bus Line 206 from JR Kyoto Station (35min.), Bus Lines 31, 201 from Shijo (25min), and Bus Line 201 from Subway Imadegawa Station (15min.).
  • Bus stop "Hyakumanben" is 5 min. walk from the venue. "Hyakumanben" has more bus lines.
  • Recommended route from JR Kyoto Station is: take Subway Karasuma Line to Imadegawa, then City Bus Line 201 to Kyodai Seimon-mae (15min.), or taxi from Subway Imadegawa to Kyoto U.
